The organizers of Picnic at Hanging Rock 2009 could not have picked a worse day in February. The drive up to Woodend the day before reached temperatures of 45 degrees. The Sunday morning of the event was surreal as people began to digest the events of the Black Saturday bushfires that were still raging from the day before. Some members of the organizing club were away fighting the fires. The Picnic still managed to gather over 1000 cars on display, as the full extent of the devastation of the bushfires had not been fully realized.
There is a strong American car entry including Hot rods and motorbikes. The best thing about the event though is that there is something for everyone. There were three Borgwards in attendance. John Van Gronigen from the local club had his cream Isabella TS on display. My wife Mardi and I had our red Isabella Coupe and Roger Day and James were in attendance in Roger's immaculate Blue Isabella TS.
